I’m excited to announce that Photo-Poetic will be featured on an upcoming 3345 Music release. Stay tuned!

I haven’t told Ryan this yet, but I think it’s about time I put this out there. Tonight I was on the phone with a good friend, Adam the Tree. And he expressed great appreciation for the Photo-Poetic project. I have to admit, these types of comments are inspiring. So, thank you, Adam. Anyway, our conversation moved me to go through the Photo-Poetic unreleased archives. And, I must say, there’s a lot of great material. I’d really like to get this out there before the end of 2008. It’s time.
You may or may not know that I have moved to Colorado. It’s where I’m originally from. So I’m home now. At any rate, this will not keep the Photo-Poetic project from growing. We have received a lot of great comments from many of you, and it keeps us inspired.
So stay tuned. And once again, thank you all. If you’d like to be notified of new news, let us know. Just send me an email at “doctor [dot] jonez [at] gmail [dot] com” I’ll get the email newsletter section up soon as well.
For those who haven’t heard our debut EP, check it out!

Photo-Poetic
We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be headlining the Cascio Groove Garage stage at SummerFest, Wisconsin’s largest music festival! Photo-Poetic will go on at 8pm on June 27th, 2008. We’re very excited about this and hope to see you all there!

It’s a great honor to be considered for such an award. The MAMAs is a not-for-profit foundation that uses the proceeds from the awards to help local school music programs. We feel this is a great value to the music community in Madison. You can vote for Photo-Poetic by visiting www.themamas.org. There is a $5 donation required to vote, but it’s well worth it. Plus you’ll be supporting Photo-Poetic!
Thanks again, Madison. And good luck to ALL of the artists involved!
-David
We just got word from OEM radio that Photo-Poetic’s music is going to be added to their playlist. This is a great honor - OEM’s stations offer a great listening experience for their users, and we applaud their presence.
from the OEM website:
OEM radio presents original electronic music recordings via a Shoutcastâ„¢ internet radio station. OEM Radio is a free, zero-profit endeavor. The radio stream broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year - free. The stream broadcasts at 128kbit, so you will need DSL, Cable Modem, or a faster connection in order to tune in. We are working on starting a lower bandwidth stream in the near future.
The music content is wide ranging in terms of genre: you will hear ambient, IDM, downtempo, breakbeat, dub, glitch, minimal techno, psychedelic chill, and many other not-so-easily categorized sounds. OEM Radio plays listening music and not dance music. OEM Radio seeks to bring original electronic music and recording artists that are underexposed to a wider audience.
Tune in and show your support!
We’ve been working hard in the studio. This week, we began work on three new tracks. Additionally we have about three other tracks that are in the finishing process. I’m excited to say that we’ll be releasing a full length album in the spring! It’s amazing how much energy goes into this music.
The new album will be filled with the dubby downtempo and electronic sounds you’re used to hearing. Plenty of punchy upright bass, lush strings, jazzy guitars, and funky synths. This is really the way downtempo music was meant to sound. In our minds, and now in our ears. Hopefully these sounds will soon be joining you too!
In the mean time, be sure to check out our debut downtempo EP release and enjoy!

The acclaimed electronic internet radio station, Groovera, has started carrying Photo-Poetic’s music. You’ll find our music on any one of their three radio stations:
Jet City Lounge - fine mix of chilled instrumental future lounge, nu-jazz, groove jazz, downtempo, soft techno, brokenbeat, electro-bossa, deep house, and ambient house, with intermittent vocals.
Ambient Popsicle - An aficionado’s mix of chilled adult alternative pop, future lounge, vocal downtempo, nu-jazz, ambient pop, trip-hop, neo-soul, synth pop, deep house, and a few surprise classics.
Low Mercury - A deeply-chilled mix of instrumental downtempo, soft techno, chill-out, IDM, psybient, illbient, ambient dub, ambient techno, ambient house, nu-jazz, and an occasional vocal track.
Groovera is very well known for their quality streams. We are quite delighted to be a part of it.
Alright folks. The wait is just about over. We have printed the Photo-Poetic EP compact discs. A LOT of work has gone into this project. This week, I realized that one of the tracks on the album, Machine from Another Planet, was originally written all the way back in early 2003. Wow. Almost 5 years to finally get our music to the people. But it just might be worth the wait. If you haven’t heard the songs yet, they have a nice chill ambient funky & downtempo music vibe.
So back to the point. The CDs have been printed. We decided to not go with the high end printing that you see on a lot of CDs these days. Adam Blanchard, an artist in Madison, hooked us up with his screen printing studio and we’ve produced some great looking discs! It was such a fun process, that I thought it would be good to share. Images posted after the jump. (more…)
Our first release, a three track EP that blends flavors of IDM, downtempo, and illbient music, is now available for download in high fidelity mp3 format. Merry Christmas!! We’ve also begun our limited run of 100 CDs. If you would like to get your hands on one of these rare items, please let us know! We would be happy to ship copy out to you if you cover the cost of shipping and handling.
We give you this music for free. The only thing we ask in return is that you share it and enjoy it. If you’re done with it, pass it on. You are welcome to share this music with anyone!
Also, be sure to sign up to our mailing list to get frequent email updates, promos, and news. I’m sure we’ll be sending an email blast out soon.
On to the music:
Check it out! We are thrilled to announce that Photo-Poetic’s music is going to be in rotation on the popular chill out internet radio station, SmoothLounge.com. Smooth Lounge, the spin off of SmoothJazz, is a stylish internet radio station that specializes in lounge, chill, and downtempo music.
From the Smooth Lounge website: “The idea behind the music is to create an after-party vibe that is easy to relax and chill to. SmoothLounge.com has created a unique blend of chill for sophisticated adult listeners looking for something different in their radio experience: A sultry, urbane and organic music mix of music that incorporates elements of jazz, electronica, world, and downtempo as well as warm, rich vocals that melt into the mix like honey.”
We love honey! Check it out, and when you hear Photo-Poetic, turn it up!
